Planar Systems at ISE 2012 unveiled its latest video wall technology, the Clarity Matrix 3D.

The Clarity Matrix 3D’s 46-inch LCD panels can be tiled to create video walls for a variety of applications, including 3D simulation.

The Clarity Matrix 3D video wall uses passive 3D glasses and offers “flicker-free images.” It also features an ultra-thin profile and EasyAxis mounting system and off-board electronics that reduce the install depth to 3.6 inches.

“The Clarity Matrix 3D LCD Video Wall System is changing the way we learn and communicate ideas,” says Jason Leigh of the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Electronic Visualization Library, which installed the system (pdf) to create a 20-foot-long, floor-to-ceiling 3D video wall in a teaching and research facility on campus. “All students and faculty need to do is attach a laptop and put on a pair of inexpensive 3D glasses to gain a whole new perspective on the subject matter they’re studying.

Planar also announced at ISE 2012 that it’s shipping its Clarity Matrix MX46HD, a 46-inch full-HD, LED video wall system. The system features a high pixel density (1920x1080p), an ultra-narrow bezel of less than a quarter inch (5.7 mm) image-to-image gap for virtually seamless images and LED backlighting for energy savings.

Rear-Projection, LED Video Walls
Planar also debuted a line of rear-projection, LED-lit video wall displays called the Clarity LED Series that is designed for mission-critical control rooms, including military, energy, transportation, security and surveillance and visualization.

The Clarity LED Series offers seven models that vary in size, ranging from the Clarity c50HD-LED, a 50-inch, full-HD model, to Planar’s largest rear-projection display, the 80-inch Clarity c80RP-LED.

The displays support all leading image processing solutions and Planar’s Indisys Management Suite (IMS) 2.0 for network-based visual collaboration.
